The Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegrated Commission, leader, Madam Nyirahabineza Valerie has applauded the outgoing Medical Steering Committee for an excellent work done to disabled ex-combatants nation-wide.
Madam Valerie disclosed it when she was bidding farewell to the outgoing Medical Steering Committee, attending a get together party with RDRC Officials and staff as well as incoming Medical Committee members at Grand Legacy Hotel on 16th, October, 2020.
In her opening remarks, the RDRC Chairperson thanked the outgoing Medical team for working tirelessly while serving the disabled ex-combatants.
She remarked that the outgoing Medical team did what was required to improve the health of disabled ex-combatants spread across the country. "As the Commission, we thank you very much for a good job done. You did well the assignment, and this is why disabled ex-combatants are in good health," she said, and added: "We request the incoming Medical steering Committee to emulate the example". She noted that the disabled ex-combatants played a big role in the liberation struggle and should therefore be catered for to enable them live decent lives.
The RDRC Commissioner, Mr. Fred Nyamurangwa echoed similar sentiments. He thanked the outgoing Medical team for serving well beneficiaries. "We appreciate the service rendered to our beneficiaries. We request you to be near us and continue serving the nation", Nyamurangwa said. He also gave awarmly welcome to the new Medical committee members, assuring them of working together as a team to accomplish the mission. "It is a honor for the Commission to receive you and work with you. We hope to work as a team and accomplish our mission", he added, wishing them success in the new assignement.
On his part, Dr. Emmanuel Kagambirwa, the out going Chairman of the Medical steering Committee hailed the Commission for working as a team during their term office. He said it was a privelage to work with RDRC because the team he led learnt a lot, gained huge experience, and served the nation deligently. He vowed to continue serving ex-combatants where the intervetion is needed.
The Chairman of the incoming Medical Committee, Dr. Mugabo Francis commended the outgoing Medical team for an excellent work rendered to disabled ex-combatants. He pledged to fall in the same foot steps for the sake of providing health care to disabled ex-combatants.
Dr. Bunogerane Juru, a health expert, and one of the incoming members of the Medical team said: "We are well prepared to serve the ex-combatants. It is our sole responsibility as Rwandans to serve our nation. We shall do what is required to provide decent health care to our people", she said.
Notably, the Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RDRC) has been lauded by global peace scientists for having in place a successful demobilization and reintegration program on the globe. This is because the Commission regularly receives prominent peace scientists, scholars, researchers and post conflict ravaged countries from across the world, coming to learn from Rwanda the best practices in regard with demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants in the community.
